Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor in Speech-Language Pathology

Position Overview

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 12-month, full-time clinical faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor to begin sometime during the spring 2025 semester with a competitive and negotiable salary commensurate with education and experience; the initial appointment of clinical faculty is typically for a three-year term renewable term. Appropriate candidates are those with interest and experience in clinical education, program development, and community and professional engagement. The Wendell Johnson Speech & Hearing Clinic is a thriving clinic within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The clinic maintains active collaborations with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and other area service providers.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include clinical teaching of graduate students in clinical practice, program development, participation in service and professional development activities, and knowledge dissemination and scholarship in areas of expertise. Other responsibilities may include classroom teaching and direct service.

Areas of clinical experience/expertise potentially including:

• Speech and Language Disorders (Birth to Young Adult)
• Dysphagia
• Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing
• Motor Speech Across the Lifespan

• Master's degree, SLPD, or PhD in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program awarded by the position start date.

• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
• At least three years of clinical experience.
• Specific clinical expertise using evidence-based practice.
• Eligible for licensure in Iowa as a Speech-Language Pathologist.

• Experience with clinical instruction and/or supervision.
• Experience with the development and implementation of clinical programming.
