As a Production Process Manager, Heat Treat and Coatings, you will be responsible for the oversight of the manufacturing processes that meet established internal and external specifications, standards, and cost targets. You will comply with the manufacturing drawings and product specifications to ensure the customer requirements are met. The scope of the position is hiring, training, and leading a team of employees in the overall direction of day-to-day activities relating to production and equipment on all shifts.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time)

Support the development and lead a process control system to assure that manufacturing processes will produce products that meet required standards. Work with Quality to ensure processes will result in product consistent with internal and customer quality requirements. Work with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Production personnel to determine the method of manufacturing products in the most efficient manner considering the cost of production, machine capability, and machine skill availability. Ensure the safe operation of equipment, safe work habits of the employees, and administer the safety program within the guidelines established by the company. Performs time studies and applies those studies to update machine and labor standards. Performs root cause analysis in eliminating future occurrences. Provides support for production and maintenance activities to ensure maximum production. Performs analysis to reduce downtime and outages. Implements cost reduction initiatives while maintaining high quality standards. Develops operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities. Maintains effective communication and provides training and guidance to team members to accomplish production goals. (45%)

Provides daily management leadership and guidance for employees and ensures that Environmental Health & Safety compliance, Quality, delivery, and productivity expectations are met. Stay current with product specifications, engineering technology and production processes. Develops best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability. Investigates problems, analyze root causes and derive resolutions. Participate in & demonstrate leadership on X-functional teams Compile and analyze data identify causes, recommend conclusions, generate reports Use expertise to improve operational efficiencies and meet compliance requirements Understand heat treatment and pyrometry. (45%)

Drive Lean Manufacturing and 6S improvement processes in all production areas (10%)

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • 5 years' experience in Leadership and/or Management role, required.
  • 2+ years of practical experience in heat treatment and the ability to manage multi-level employees and functions, required.
  • Self-Management: Ability to display a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner.
  • Team Player: Demonstrated ability to motivate and work with team members. Must be able to connect, interface, and communicate well with a variety of internal partners in operations, quality, planning, maintenance and engineering.
  • Requires operations experience in lean manufacturing with demonstrated success leading/operating efficiency improvements, required.
  • 2 Years of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma / 6S experience, preferred.
  • 2 Years of Process ISO 9000 Quality Systems experience
  • 2 Years of experience using PLC or HMI Software
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Reading / Comprehension/ Speaking / Writing: Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, process specifications, budgets, quality work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively.
  • Analysis / Reasoning: Effective analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear.The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment.While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly work around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requires <5% domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in Gallatin, TN.

RELOCATION

Relocation is available to an appropriate candidate.

PAY

$80,300 - $128,500 / year
