Khan Lab, located at the NextGen Precision Health and Department of Radiation Oncology, seeks a highly motivated scientist to join the group to contribute to groundbreaking translational cancer research. We are passionate about advancing organoid technology to accurately model solid tumors and tumor heterogeneity in patients. We are dedicated to developing a living patient-derived organoid biobank of head and neck cancers at MU that would serve as a unique resource for cancer precision medicine. This position is funded by an NIH grant that aims, in particular, to study how DNA methylation and other epigenetic changes lead to heterogeneity and therapeutic resistance in head and neck cancer.

The candidate will have the unique opportunity to work closely with the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery to develop accurate patient-derived models and use them to discover new insights into the disease. We use a variety of methods including histology, immunofluorescence, transcriptomics, multi-modal microscopy, bioprinting and a range of radiobiological assays. The candidate will also have the further opportunity to collaborate with the University of Missouri Research Reactor Center (MURR) to study the radiobiology of emerging therapeutic radioisotopes in cancer organoids.

Candidates are expected to have solid expertise in cancer biology, cell and molecular biology and demonstrate a track record of research productivity through publication records and letters of recommendation. Previous experiences in working with organoids will be highly advantageous.

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Salary Range: $51,875 - $75,000 per year
