Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Process Engineer. This position will support both Newport News, and Williamsburg, VA locations.

The Process Engineer position is responsible for guiding efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems as well as identifying and managing asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations.
  • Process support of a 24/7 Co-extrusion and Thermoforming operation

  • Develop operating procedures, production recipes, and troubleshooting to support manufacturing associateswhile ensuring plant compliance.

  • Continuous improvement of thermoforming processes in the areas of quality, waste and productivity, utilizing tools such as SPC, statistical analysis, and DOE

  • Support maintenance department with troubleshooting and increasing equipment reliability through preventative maintenance plans and equipment upgrades

  • Facilitate problem solving exercises including A3, DMAIC, root cause analysis, etc.

  • Support product development by developing new processes and by collaborating with product development and design engineers on product and tooling design

  • Provide support to plant operations with miscellaneous engineering and capital project management including evaluation, selection and startup of new equipment

  • Analyze/review plant operations to submit quantifiable cost savings ideas while improving cost performance against budget

  • Coordinate and lead Continuous Improvement initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)

  • Previous experience/internshipworking in:

  • Process analysis/control

  • Statistical analysis

  • Variability/cost reduction

  • Process optimization through experimental design

  • Capital improvement analyses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Process Engineering experience with Thermoforming

  • Lean Six Sigma training

  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle multiple projects/assignments

  • Mechanical skills

  • Technical problem-solving (A3, DMAIC, etc.)

  • Continuous Improvement (5S, process mapping, standard work, etc.)
