Job Description:

The Head of Legal, US Pharma will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on a broad range of commercial matters within our pharmaceutical franchise. This role involves negotiating, drafting, and reviewing contracts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing legal risks, and advising on business strategies. This role will serve on the US Pharma Leadership Team and will report directly to the VP of Legal and Assistant Corporate Secretary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and counselling on a broad set of healthcare, commercial and general corporate topics in support of commercialized and pre-commercial product launches, including pre-approval activities, marketing strategies, advertising and promotional materials and programs, disease awareness activities, HCP interactions, patient programs, market access and reimbursement matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements related to the sale of pharmaceutical products.
  • Provide legal guidance on regulatory compliance related to pharmaceutical products, including FDA regulations, drug distribution, pricing, AKS, market access, and reimbursement.
  • Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with commercial activities, ensuring alignment with company policies, applicable laws, and industry standards.
  • Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, R&D, and finance, to support business initiatives and ensure legal compliance.
  • Effectively manage risk to the organization; handle disputes and litigation, as required.
  • Provide training and support to internal stakeholders on legal issues and best practices.

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the US.
  • Minimum of 10 years prior legal experience, including experience inhouse within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience launching and commercializing new pharmaceutical products.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, drug distribution, pricing, AKS, market access, and reimbursement related to pharmaceutical products.
  • Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Healthcare compliance experience preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and professional integrity.
