Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor (non-Tenure-Track) Position - Denton

Responsibilities: This position is a non-tenure-track, nine-month academic appointment with the possibility of summer teaching. The appointment date is September 1, 2024.

The successful candidate will:



  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to physical education pedagogy.
  • Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary collaborations and serve as a liaison between the School of Health Promotion & Kinesiology, the College of Professional Education, and local school districts.
  • Observe students in the field and provide support and feedback to enhance student development.
  • Participate in service activities within the department, college, university, and profession.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • An earned master's degree (doctorate preferred) in kinesiology or closely related discipline with emphasis in physical education pedagogy before the employment start date.
  • Public school teaching experience.
  • A valid Texas/National teaching certificate.
  • A commitment to, potential for, or record of successful college or university teaching excellence in physical education pedagogy related disciplines.
  • Potential for or history of active service participation and/or leadership roles in campus, community, and professional organizations.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with teacher certification.
  • Experience with student recruitment and retention.
  • Experience building and sustaining partnerships and service learning opportunities with community stakeholders including partnering districts/schools.
  • Internship and/or student teaching supervision experience.
  • Experience in adapted physical activity, adapted physical education, disability sport, and/or nationally certified through the APENS process (i.e. CAPE).
  • A strong interdisciplinary and collaborative record and experience working in a multicultural setting.
  • Experience with implementing, evaluating, and sustaining strategic enrollment initiatives.
  • Successful mentorship of students, either at the undergraduate or graduate level, in a teaching and research setting.
  • Candidates for Associate Clinical Professor are expected to have significant prior experience in a full-time faculty position.
