JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: We are searching for scientists and engineers to join our Materials Design and Optimization Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL/Penn State's purpose is to develop innovative solutions to challenging national problems in support of the Navy, DoD, and Intel communities engineering and technology needs. The Materials Design and Optimization Division has a decades long reputation of excellence and demonstrated history of developing systems and technologies that are currently in use by the US Navy and industry. To maintain this capability we are seeking individuals with knowledge across a range of competencies including Design and Analysis, Process Development and Optimization, and Characterization and Testing. You will support the research and development of new materials, innovative material system designs, and novel fabrication and testing methods covering a wide range of material systems including composites (fiber-reinforced polymers, ceramic matrix composites, metal matrix composites), elastomers, additively manufactured polymers, and ceramics as well as emergent technologies. Minimally requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline for the professional level. Additional experience and/or education are required for higher level positions.
