Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Student Counseling Services (SCS), the Mental Health Case Manager (STEM focus) functions as a liaison to the Student Center for Science Engagement (SCSE) in order to meet mental health needs of STEM students. The Mental Health Case Manager provides counseling services to all NEIU students including STEM students (initial appointments, walk-in consultations, crisis intervention and response, and therapy); provides supervision and training to Peer Wellness Coaches at SCS; collaborates closely with SCSE staff and the summer research program. This position is embedded in SCSE and initially grant-funded and will later be institutionalized.Job Description:
Minimal Qualifications: This position requires a Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field. Licensed or license-eligible as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed ClinicalProfessional Counselor in the State of Illinois, to be fully licensed within 1 year experience providing counseling and case management in a diverse, multicultural setting; ability to work autonomously. Departmental Preferences: Two or more years' post-licensure, Spanish-speaking ability is a plus, Experience supervising others, Understanding student experiences as a STEM major, Skills in initiating professional liaison relationships with external healthcare providers.
