Cruz Associates Inc. of Yorktown, VA has an open position for an Aerospace / Mechanical Engineer. The job location is at Joint Base Langley Eustis, VA in support of the Technology Applications Program Office (TAPO) C-27J Spartan Program Office.

Scope: The position supports all aspects of the technical integration and modification associated with the advanced cockpit upgrade to the United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) USASOC Flight Company's (UFC) C-27J Spartan aircraft. The position has specific support requirements for the enduring drafting, coordinating, and advisements to the C-27J Program Office as relates to all airframe integration, flight test, and airworthiness issues. The position requires extensive interfacing with current Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) (Leonardo Aircraft Division) engineering and Government engineers associated with both integration and airworthiness requirements. General support is required to create/modify acquisition program documentation (required by DoD 5000 and SOCOM 70-1) for aircraft and mission equipment systems employed on the C-27J aircraft.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates as a subject matter expert in design reviews, technical meetings, and briefings.
  • Provides expert advice, assistance, or guidance in support of technical programs and projects.
  • Perform engineering design evaluations, including confirming system and product specifications by reviewing design feasibility and testing methods.
  • Conduct test plan reviews, identifying potential risks and appropriate courses of action should technical issues arise or user requirements change.
  • Applies knowledge to gather facts, research and analyze data, and develop conclusions, recommendations, and implement/execute approved project plans.
  • Participate as a member of Technical Interface Meetings (TIM), Program Reviews, Test Integration Working Groups (TIWG), and System Safety Working Groups (SSWG).
  • Work closely with engineering counterparts, to include, but not limited to the Aviation Integration Directorate (AID), TAPO, and industry partners.
  • Use a wide application of principles, theories, concepts and techniques to develop innovative solutions to problems.
  • Assist in developing performance work statements and other contract documentation for various types of contracts and other procurement actions.
  • Review documents for compliance with regulatory requirements, and recommend disposition, including corrective action.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 5 years of relevant experience as an engineer.
  • Possesses at least a Secret or Interim Secret security clearance.
