Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $83,500 - Midpoint: $112,700 (Salaried E13)

Department/Organization: 208181 - Psychiatry

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; limited nights and weekends.

Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical services and assists physicians within their specific scope of expertise. Makes independent decisions in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Assists and instructs students. Supervises other positions.

Additional Department Summary: Provides clinical services for the University Medical Center Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Clinic. Uses independent decision making in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Assists psychiatrists within their specific scope of expertise. Works to improve efficiency, organization, and patient/clinic flow. Assists with day-to-day operations, resolves issues, and contributes to the improvement of quality of care, as well as patient and provider satisfaction.

Completes required training that is related to laws and regulations, that creates a more hospitable and respectful workplace; and safer work environment. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Nurse Practitioner Certificate and two (2) years of nursing experience. Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Alabama in good standing.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Certification Programs(s). Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of behavioral/mental health.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge: Excellent clinical, organizational and administrative skills. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively with student patients, faculty, staff and other health care professionals. Ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment. Desire to exemplify the core values and mission of the organization, always exercising utmost discretion, diplomacy, and tact in patient/staff interactions. Ability to maintain strict confidentially of protected health information and follow HIPAA regulations at all times.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience providing behavioral health services to various age-populations, including children, adolescents, and adults.
