Open Rank Faculty Position in Early Modern Art

The Department of Art History at the University of Southern California seeks to appoint a tenure-track assistant professor or tenured associate professor or full professor of early modern art, 1400-1800. We welcome applications from scholars whose research focuses on any area of the world. The appointment is expected to begin in August 2027.

A doctorate in art history or a related discipline is required by the time the appointment begins. A demonstrated commitment to research is expected, as is a commitment to teaching and advising at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates seeking appointment with tenure should also have a strong record of intellectual leadership in their field.

Applicants for a tenure-track appointment should submit three letters of recommendation; applicants for an appointment with tenure should list three references. The annual base salary range for this position is $112,000 - $190,000.
