What to Expect

At Tesla, Engineering Parts Advisors play a critical role in Semi Engineering, providing the parts and logistics support that keep vehicle development, test, and validation moving in our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

As an Engineering Parts Advisor on the Semi program, you will support engineering and test teams. You will source, track, and stage prototype, pre-production, and production parts for engineering builds and test activity; liaise with Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and vendors; and continuously develop your skills in a fast-paced product development environment. We've created one of the most innovative heavy-duty vehicles ever made, and you will help ensure engineering has the right parts, at the right time, to design, validate, and launch it.

To succeed at Tesla, you must be energetic, highly organized, and hard working. You should have a passion for the brand and the ability to thrive in a team environment.

What You'll Do
  • Source prototype, pre-production, and production parts from Distribution Centers, manufacturing, suppliers, and other Tesla sites, and allocate them to engineering work orders, test vehicles, and validation activities
  • Monitor engineering inventory within the parts system; communicate parts updates, availability, lead times, and shortages to engineering and program stakeholders
  • Review upcoming engineering builds, test events, and validation activities and ensure they are kitted, documented, and parts-ready in our system. Prepare internal orders for shipment to other Tesla engineering, test, and manufacturing locations
  • Process returns of failed, prototype, and analysis parts for engineering and supplier quality, including handling hazardous materials and high-voltage batteries
  • Systematically receive, inspect, and put away stock, special-order, and prototype parts, maintaining accurate inventory and revision/serial-number traceability
  • Escalate parts shortages, quality issues, and supplier delays in collaboration with Engineering and Supply Chain leadership, acting as a point of contact to vendors and providing constructive feedback that will contribute to future improvements
  • Pick up and transport parts using van or forklift, engaging third parties when necessary

What You'll Bring
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with engineers, technicians, supply chain, manufacturing, and vendors
  • This role requires flexibility to support critical engineering projects and deadlines, including occasional weekend or evening hours
  • Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-changing development environment
  • Able to communicate, read, and write effectively in the English language on all levels. Proficient in MS Office
  • Valid driver's license required and ability to obtain appropriate state licensing, where applicable
  • Ability to perform repetitious duties including: regularly lift up to 25 lbs., sit, bend and stand for long periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities required include: ability to identify parts, operate systems, and identify potential safety hazards in the parts area
