RJY Group, LLC has been awarded a multi-year federal contract supporting U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare facilities in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington. We are seeking an experienced Delta Controls Building Automation System (BAS) Technician to provide preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, programming, system optimization, and technical support for critical healthcare facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operations and Maintenance support to the Energy Control staff by responding to calls of a controls-related nature and performing PM, testing, calibration, and other work associated with operation of facility BAS controls and related Base Support Equipment (BSE) controlled by these systems.
  • Any required preventive maintenance to the energy management systems and components and related BSE controlled by BAS systems, to include testing of control and controlled components, and replacement of bad components, including valves, dampers, and their respective controllers, for both electric and pneumatic systems.
  • Repairs to HVAC energy management systems and components and related BSE utilizing HVAC energy management DDC systems to evaluate equipment performance for operational issues.
  • Troubleshoot Delta Controls BAS controllers, sensors, field devices, and system communications (including BACnet).
  • Develop, modify, and optimize Delta Controls BAS programming, graphics, and control sequences.
  • Support hardware and software upgrades to the Delta Controls BAS platform.
  • Coordinate with facility engineering and maintenance personnel on controls-related work and scheduling.
  • Reporting for each work order request and corrective action.
  • Investigate Delta Controls BAS systems and the applicability of each program on a system-by-system basis.
  • Complete training in automation controls and HVAC, including Delta Controls-specific certification coursework.
  • Complete HVAC preventive maintenance and repairs at both the Portland VA Medical Center and Vancouver VA Medical Center, and in other parts of the country as needed.
  • Support quarterly BAS system assessments and reporting activities.
  • Provide BAS training and technical guidance to facility staff.
Minimal Assistance With:
    • Tune-up, calibration, and maintenance to include an analysis of the chiller plant control system, HVAC control system, and applicable building control technologies related to facility BSE.
    • Update and correct deficiencies within the existing Delta Controls BAS and BSE, and increase the energy efficiency of the facility through maintenance of the BAS, providing options and alternatives that may improve overall system performance (equipment calibration, system modifications, etc.) during the process.
    • Recommendations to facility engineering personnel on energy savings opportunities.
    • Development and programming of HVAC and energy optimization strategies.
    • Technical review sessions with facility operational and engineering personnel and contract personnel on HVAC system programming as it pertains to facility equipment.
    • HVAC energy management reports available within the Delta Controls BAS to the customer monthly.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Current, hands-on experience with Delta Controls BAS.
  • Completion of Delta Controls technical certification training.
  • Experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting BAS systems.
  • Understanding of HVAC controls, BACnet protocols, control sequences, and energy management systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to proficiently read Mechanical and Electrical blueprints.
  • Physical ability to perform all necessary job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between the Portland and Vancouver facilities.
Education and Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • 5+ years of experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, or Controls field.
    • 30-Hour OSHA Certification.
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Current experience with Delta Controls BAS and completion of Delta Controls technical certification training.
Preferred Qualifications:
    • Delta Controls Fundamental Technical Certification.
    • Hospital or healthcare facility experience.
    • Federal or government facility experience.
    • BAS upgrades and integration project experience.
Security Requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain VA facility access, including fingerprinting, background investigation, and suitability determination.
