Category Advisor-Walmart

Shearer's Foods is seeking a highly analytical and strategic Walmart Category Advisor to serve as a trusted advisor to Walmart's merchandising organization. You'll help shape the future of snacking by delivering category expertise that drives growth across private brand and national brand categories. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence Walmart's category strategy, uncover emerging consumer trends, and partner with one of America's leading snack manufacturers to create winning solutions for retailers and shoppers alike.

The Walmart Category Advisor will leverage category management principles, shopper insights, syndicated data, and Walmart analytics to deliver fact-based recommendations that drive category growth, enhance the shopper experience, and strengthen Shearer's partnership with Walmart. The Category Advisor will collaborate closely with Walmart merchants and internal cross-functional teams to influence assortment, shelving, pricing, promotion, and innovation strategies.

  • Serve as the category expert and primary analytics resource supporting Walmart.
  • Develop and present actionable category insights using Walmart Scintilla, Retail Link, Circana, NielsenIQ, and other relevant data sources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve category performance through assortment optimization, space allocation, pricing, promotion, and merchandising strategies.
  • Lead modular planning and planogram development utilizing Blue Yonder/JDA and Shelf IQ space planning tools.
  • Deliver category reviews, business updates, and strategic recommendations to Walmart merchants and Shearer's leadership.
  • Monitor category, shopper, and competitive trends to identify growth opportunities within salty snacks, cookies, crackers, and adjacent categories.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Insights, Revenue Growth Management, Innovation, and Supply Chain teams to support customer strategies and new item launches.
  • Act as an objective category leader focused on driving mutual growth for Walmart and Shearer's.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of Category Management, Category Leadership, Shopper Insights, or Sales Strategy experience, preferably within Consumer Packaged Goods.
  • Experience supporting Walmart or other large national retailers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and storytelling capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Walmart data platforms (Scintilla, Retail Link) and syndicated data sources such as Circana or NielsenIQ.
  • Experience with space planning and modular development.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
