MaineHealth Orthopedic Sports Surgery - Stephens Hospital, is recruiting a Physician Associate/Physician Assistant (PA) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)to join our experienced Orthopedic team in Norway, ME.Under physician supervision, the successful candidate will provide medical care through office-based evaluation and treatment ofoutpatients as well as orthopedic surgical support. The APP will workin both a surgical and clinic setting under the supervision of an orthopedic surgeon as part of a dynamic team. The orthopedics practice includes a mix of orthopedic surgeons with range of skills including joint replacement, fracture care, hand surgery, and sports medicine.Orthopedic experience and surgical experience in Orthopedics preferred. Experience or the ability to train to be able to provide first assist coverage for orthopedic surgeons is also necessary.

Schedule: Primary responsibility Monday - Friday clinic hours, in the outpatient ambulatory clinic and Operating Room. A four-day work week is available after orientation. Operating room assist with primary supervising physician and hospital rounding on the Med/Surg floor rotating among 3 Associate Professional Providers.

Participates in office call coverage as part of a shared rotation for Orthopedic Surgery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Associate/Assistant program or a Nurse Practitioner with an Acute Care Certification.
  • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure.
  • NCCPA certification for Physician Associate/Assistant or ACNP for Nurse Practitioner
  • Current BLS required
  • Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including medical histories, performing evaluations and wellness diagnosis
  • Knowledge of indications for proper techniques for office procedures
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
  • Experience: Orthopedic experience preferred.

The pay range for this position is $122,570 to $158,620 annually based on the candidate's level of experience.
