Overview

This positionis responsible forproviding technical and administrative supervision of theDEG PermittingDesign group. Provides DistributionPermittingDesign support in areas of technical and managerial complexity. Performs billable work for clients withinareaof expertise. Serves as the lead interface for the group with other company departments, outside consultants, clients, contractors, suppliers, and others on technically related matters.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise theEngineeringand Design efforts and provide support for Project Managers and others as appropriate.Responsible for teaming with and/or managing the efforts ofteams/consultants that may be involved inCPS Energy CD&D Engineering &Design projects.
  • Responsible for working with Project Management in preparing and coordinating proposals, schedules, and budget estimates for client activities. Assign and schedule work asrequiredto meet client requirements, assuring the highest quality and most efficient use of resources.
  • Responsible for managing theCPS Energy Engineering & Design Teamsto meet or exceed profitability and quality performing targets.
  • Take a lead role in buildingand trainingtheCPS Energy Engineering & Design Teamsby hiring employees, marketing services, and providing outstanding service to clients.
  • Serve as a resource to the Company's business development contact person with clients and partners.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to communicate and negotiate effectively with clients, agencies, and thegeneral public.
  • Responsible for complete andaccuraterecord keeping of all work performed by theCPS Energy Engineering & Design Teams.
  • Responsible for Quality Assurance and Quality Control on all work performed by theCPS Energy Engineering & Design Teams.
  • Must have excellent PC skills with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel,PowerPointand Outlook), and a working knowledge of CAD based programs.
  • A strong knowledge and experience ofCPS Energy Engineering & Construction Standards, electricutility distribution design and work management software ispreferred.
  • Serve on industry committees and association groups asappropriate.
  • Must be able to travel as necessary to support work.
  • Administer company policies, salary administration, training, safety (both company and client),employee development,and performance evaluations for the employees of the Distribution Design group.
  • Approvetimessheets and expenses for direct reports.
  • Achieve weekly billablegoalas defined by the project guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Manager/Director as need

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years ofleadership/senior/lead designor engineeringexperience
  • Must have3+years' experience as aDesign Manager/Coordinator,DistributionEngineer, Designer,Coordinator,or Analyst and familiarity with National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), the CPS Energy Design & Construction Standards, and CD&D Design Standards
  • 3-6years ofproject managementexperiencewithCPS EnergyCD&D (Customer Design & Delivery)is highly desired;1-/3-Phase OverheadElectric,URD, 3-PhaseUndergroundElectric,and Gas Distribution Designs.UtilizationofCPS Energy applications, GIS,Microstation, SAP, and ARM forSmall Commercial,Large Commercial,Multi-Family, Subdivision Developmentwithin the CPS Energy CD&D business units.
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD experienceis a plus.
  • TRC Management may consider other education and work experience to be acceptable forappointmentto this position.

  • Demonstrates supervisory and leadership skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to effectively market Distribution Design services outside the company.
  • Expected to provide excellent client service, be innovative, andmaintain a high levelof integrity. Demonstratesstrongunderstanding of electricdistributionconstruction standards and practices and able to navigate and understand utility maps and design plans.
  • Proficient use and knowledge of computers and software applications desired (MS Office products).
  • Must be self-driven and able to multi-task.

  • CPSEnergyOverhead or Underground Electric EngineeringLead/Management Experience (highlydesired)
  • CPSEnergy Distribution PlanningExperience (highly desired)
  • JurisdictionalPermittingexperience
  • Associate Degree in Engineering (Power Delivery preferred) with 5+ years senior/lead design experiencepreferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering desired, P.E. a plus.

Compensation: In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
