Join UCLA Health's Enterprise Infrastructure Services team and play a critical role in supporting the advanced network infrastructure that powers one of the nation's leading academic health systems. As a Network Engineer, you will design, implement, monitor, maintain, and optimize enterprise network technologies that support clinical, research, administrative, and operational services across UCLA Health.

Reporting to the Manager of IT Network Services, you will provide technical expertise and operational support for a complex, 24x7 production environment, including core and distribution networks, wired and wireless access infrastructure, VoIP systems, WAN connectivity, IP address management, DHCP services, and network monitoring platforms. What You'll Do
  • Implement, configure, support, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure, including core, distribution, wired and wireless access networks, WAN technologies, VoIP systems, DHCP, IPAM, and network monitoring platforms.
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for UCLA Health's 24x7 enterprise network environment, ensuring high availability, performance, reliability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, service requests, configuration issues, and infrastructure outages while ensuring timely escalation and resolution of critical issues.
  • Monitor network performance, identify opportunities for optimization, and implement improvements that enhance stability, scalability, and user experience.
  • Participate in network maintenance activities, upgrades, patching, system enhancements, and technology refresh initiatives.
  • Support enterprise infrastructure projects by contributing to solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, documentation, and operational readiness activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, standards, procedures, runbooks, and knowledge base articles.
  • Ensure compliance with established policies, standards, security requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application, telecommunications, and business teams to deliver reliable and scalable technology solutions.
  • Evaluate, learn, and support emerging networking technologies as they are introduced into the UCLA Health environment.
  • Assist with capacity planning, performance analysis, disaster recovery preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call support schedule and provide after-hours support as needed to maintain critical business operations.

This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence on-site at least 40% of the time or more based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the "home office" location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.

Salary Range: $110,977.2 - $246,216.96

Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The University anticipates offering a salary below the midpoint of this range.

Qualifications

* 3 years or more experience with Cisco switching and routing
* 3 years or more enterprise information technology support
* 3 years or more experience with Cisco Catalyst series
* 3 years or more experience with Cisco Nexus series
* 2 years or more experience withSDN and Cisco ACI
* Expert knowledge of network routing (OSPF and BGP)
* Experience with InfoBlox DCHP/DNS appliances
* Prepare standard operating procedures, architecture and design diagrams, and othertechnical documentation
* Must participate in the weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment
* Research and test new technologies and processes
* Adapt best practices to engineering designs
* Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
* Active CCNP certification
* Valid driver's license
* Extensive experience with OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, DWDM Conferencing, QoS, TCP/IP, PPP, PPTP, IPSec, SNMP, STP, VTP, HSRP, RADIUS, 802.11a/b/g, 802.1x, TACACS+ protocols
