Overview

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparation and reporting/data integrity of assigned monthly financial statements components and related financial activities. In addition, each senior accountant is responsible for at least one specialty area listed within the Essential Job Functions section below.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance


Responsibilities

  • Review, validate and if necessary correct incoming financial data to ensure its integrity for accurate financial reporting.
  • Assess and enhance internal controls to ensure parameters are in place to minimize financial reporting risk and improprieties.
  • Serve as "mini controller" and financial liaison for assigned Strategic Business Units (SBU).
  • Prepare assigned SBU monthly financial and operating statements and 990 schedules, if applicable.
  • Prepare assigned sub-ledger to general ledger and other Balance Sheet reconciliation to substantiate account balances.
  • Perform budget variance and other analysis to identify and communicate developing trends and financial issues to management.
  • Assist SBU administrators with budget development and oversight.
  • Provide SBU administrators with information and analysis vital to the decision making process.
  • Coordinate and perform assigned SBU audit activities with auditors.
  • Responsible for one or more of the following "specialty" duties: annual budget development, user computer system administration and/or report writing, 3rd party cost report preparation, Carle contract accounting administration, federal and state income tax return preparation, fixed asset tracking, research accounting, HSIL insurance accounting, or Medical Education accounting. May also assist with non-assigned specialty areas.

Candidates should possess solid communication, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills including effective knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The position also requires a high degree of professional collaboration in a team environment including project management skills. Must be able to create new reports in various mediums. These include the use of personal computer software (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word).

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $30.54per hour - $52.53per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
