Job Description

The Department of World Languages and Cultures of the University of Missouri-Kansas City is continuously seeking qualified candidates for part-time adjunct faculty teaching positions in French, German, and SpThe Department of World Languages and Cultures of the University of Missouri-Kansas City is continuously seeking qualified candidates for part-time adjunct faculty teaching positions in French, German, and Spanish.

The intent of this announcement is to identify a pool of adjunct faculty who are qualified to deliver primarily undergraduate elementary and intermediate level courses.

This is a part-time, non-benefit eligible unranked non tenure track position. The appointment period is for the semester with consideration for reappointment.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and native or near-native fluency in the foreign language required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent advanced degree in the foreign language or appropriate related field, or completed at least one year of a graduate program in the target language
  • Some college-level teaching experience (at least one semester of teaching)
  • Taught a full class in the target language at the high- school level or at an organization
  • Evidence of teaching excellence
  • Engaged in at least two teaching development activities, such as interning in a high school language program, shadowing a high school teacher or university professor for a semester, served as a teaching assistant, have taken a pedagogy course, or trained by a language coordinator
  • Completed a year-long study abroad program
  • Completed two or more conference presentations or publications (including trade, journalistic, or literacy) in or on the target language
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
