Department Summary The Epidemiology department in the Fielding School of Public Health is a national leader in preparing a new generation of epidemiologists. Through specialized methodologies, epidemiologists identify, track, and analyze how diseases and other conditions are caused, transmitted, and prevented, as well as how they are distributed throughout the population. Such information plays a critical role in guiding policies and other evidence-based strategies to promote health and work toward health equity. The vital importance of epidemiologic research was highlighted by the COVID-19 pandemic, in which epidemiologists have helped to track outbreaks and provide guidance on how the virus spreads in community settings. Position Summary Seeking a highly motivated Research Data Analyst to support pharmacoepidemiologic research focused on advancing drug safety and public health. The position offers the opportunity to work with large healthcare datasets and apply advanced analytical methods to generate real-world evidence that informs medication safety, regulatory decision-making, and healthcare policy. Salary & Compensation UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications* Demonstrated experience with statistical analysis and programming for research. (Required) Experience in data management, cleaning, and linkage of large healthcare datasets (experience working with administrative healthcare claims data (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance datasets) i (Required) Fluency in data management and statistical programming languages (SAS, SQL, R, STATA, or Python) (Required) Solid understanding of pharmacoepidemiologic study designs and causal inference methods for observational data analysis (Required) Familiarity with drug coding systems (NDC, ATC), diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD, CPT). (Required) Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting and collaboration. (Required) High motivation and ability to multitask and work independently (Required) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Master's Degree (PhD preferred) in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, or related field (Preferred) Special Conditions for Employment Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
