Responsibilities

Peachford Hospital is searching for a caring and compassionate master's prepared mental health clinician for the Assistant Director role in our Assessment/Intake Department.

About the role you will play:

Assessment Counselors at Peachford assess the needs of callers and patients presenting with mental health or addictive disease treatment needs and are responsible for ensuring patients receive the appropriate level of care. The Assistant Director works in conjunction with the Director and entire Assessment Team to ensure the successful operation of the department on a 24-hour/7 day a week basis.

About what you will get to do:

The Assistant Director of Assessment Services is responsible for completing the following duties and tasks:

  • Assist the Director in leadership and assigned management duties.
  • Perform people duties including screening and selection of staff, providing orientation and training, completing performance evaluations and providing feedback to staff and HR.
  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Maintain working knowledge of hospital programs to stay abreast of services provided.
  • In conjunction with the Director, manage the FTE requirements and department budget.
  • Assist Director in developing and implementing policies and procedures for assessments and referrals.
  • Perform quality improvement audits and assists in monthly, weekly, and daily reporting.
  • Establish and maintain a positive relationship with callers and referral sources and internal customers.
  • Responds to inquiries seeking mental health care. Facilitate callers to optimal level of care or resources.
  • Conduct clinical assessments utilizing appropriate forms and in a timely manner.

Qualifications

About what Peachford requires for this role?

To be successful in this position, you need at least five years of intake/assessment experience preferably in a crisis intervention environment. A master's degree in a counseling is required and license-eligibility is also required. Experience in department and staff leadership is also essential to being a success in this leadership role.
