Our Values Respect | Belonging | Accountability | Transparency Department DH OMFS PAV L Job SummaryAssist the surgeon with general oral procedures. Inform patients on pre-op and post-op instructions. Provide diagnostic information through X-rays, dental impressions, and casts. Monitor the patient's vital signs during surgery. Document treatment by charting in patients' records. Set up the procedure area according to the type of procedure planned. Pass surgical instrumentation, dressing, prep, and remove sutures and debris intraoperatively. Clean sterile instruments and equipment according to the IFU. Room patients and collect medical history. Prepare patients for surgery including preop sedation counseling. Proper handling of instrumentation and equipment pre/post-procedure. Performing all procedures including dental implants, facial procedures, and clinical administrative duties, including but not limited to estimate creation, anticoagulation plans, referring provider follow-up, anticoagulation plans, FMLA paperwork, etc. Assists the lead assistant with maintaining efficient patient flows, which may include triage, support and training of junior assistants, development of standards of work and process improvement, through participation in an Ambulatory Care Services committee and/or workgroup.
