Reporting to the Senior Manager, Campus Experience and Engineering, the Facilities Mechanical Engineer is responsible for functional engineering and maintenance for a 150-acre, one million square foot mixed-use campus. The incumbent owns mechanical troubleshooting, maintenance, renovation, and reliability projects for a variety of systems. The role will collaborate on developing and managing the annual expense and capital budgets for the Facilities organization, oversee campus infrastructure (power, cooling, mechanical) equipment, HVAC, testing labs, and pilot plant systems.

What you'll do

  • Collaboratively manages the annual capital budget, capital planning process, and five-year strategic plan.
  • Collaborates with the Facilities Team to build and deliver on a Facilities expense budget ($15M+).
  • Serves as a technical resource to CBRE Maintenance Team.
  • Responsible for the oversite of development, implementation, and direction of energy utilization and conservation policies / practices for the campus, including new and renovated spaces.
  • Works with appropriate parties to manage the Campus Demand Response Program requirements.
  • Owns and drives improvement in energy measurement data for monthly (or on-demand) campus benchmarking and reporting.
  • Collaborates with EHS on campus wastewater, stormwater, air, and hazardous waste permitting.
  • Understands and offers guidance on building construction codes, local ordinances, and best practices for operating commercial/industrial buildings.
  • Initiates Appropriation Requests and manages capital projects to meet all costs, schedule and performance requirements.
  • Works with Procurement to develop engineering specifications for equipment purchases and contracted installation specifications for assigned projects.
  • Using outside contractors, arranges and directs periodic campus shutdowns for repairs, preventive maintenance, and infrastructure/capital improvements.
  • Supports AWI Pilot Operations and TAL as a technical resource (engineering).
  • Meets regularly with the Facility Management and CBRE Teams regarding work assignments and project planning/scheduling.
  • Meets regularly with Ai2S (Data Center) management, Pilot Plant management, and Testing and Analytical Labs management regarding continuing and future capital improvements to Data Center power system infrastructure.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering technology or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of engineering related experience including demonstrated leadership in previous roles required.
  • Demonstration of strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities at one time.
  • Ability to lead projects and teams.
  • Proficient in the use of information systems including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project), Outlook, SAP, AutoCAD, and the Internet.
