SUMMARY

The Strategic Financial Operations Lead, a role within the Office of Financial Strategy, Platforms, is responsible for driving financial sustainability, operational effectiveness, and technology-enabled transformation across the Platform groups.

Working closely with Platform Directors, Operations Leads, and finance partners, this role identifies and implements opportunities to improve financial performance, reduce operating costs, optimize resource utilization, and enhance business processes. The Lead serves as a bridge between financial strategy and operational execution, translating financial insights into actionable initiatives that strengthen the long-term sustainability of platform operations.

A key focus of the role is identifying and implementing cost-reduction opportunities across platform operations, including process redesign, resource optimization, infrastructure efficiencies, and technology-enabled improvements. The Strategic Financial Operations Lead will partner across finance, operations, and other Platforms teams to modernize workflows, improve decision-making, and develop clear, actionable financial reporting that enables leaders to effectively manage resources, evaluate performance, and support strategic decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Sustainability and Cost Optimization
  • Partner with Platform Directors and Operations Leads to identify opportunities to reduce operating costs, improve efficiency, and strengthen financial performance.
  • Analyze platform operations, staffing models, utilization metrics, vendor spending, and infrastructure costs to identify opportunities for savings and improved resource allocation.
  • Develop business cases and financial analyses supporting cost reduction initiatives and operational investments.
  • Monitor and report on realized savings, efficiency gains, and return on investment from improvement initiatives.
  • Support efforts to reduce operational deficits and improve cost recovery across platform services.
  • Operational Excellence and Process Transformation
  • Lead initiatives focused on improving operational effectiveness, streamlining workflows, and reducing process complexity across Platforms.
  • Conduct process mapping, workflow analysis, and operational assessments to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies and operational best practices to redesign business processes, strengthen change control mechanisms, and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Partner with stakeholders to implement sustainable operational improvements and performance measurement frameworks.

AI Enablement, Automation, and Systems Integration

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI-enabled solutions, workflow automation, and digital tools to improve productivity at scale.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and business applications that support operational efficiency and financial sustainability.
  • Partner with information technology, data, and business teams to implement systems integrations that improve data quality, reporting, and operational visibility.
  • Support development of automated reporting, dashboards, and analytics capabilities that enhance decision-making.

Strategic Analysis and Decision Support

  • Conduct financial and operational analyses to assess overall financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, improve resource utilization, and support data-driven decision-making across Platforms.
  • Support implementation of pricing, cost allocation, and cost recovery strategies through data analysis and operational insight.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across Platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Operations, Engineering, Information Systems, Economics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in financial operations, business operations, management consulting, operational excellence, business transformation, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cost optimization, process improvement, or operational transformation initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
  • Experience with business intelligence, reporting, or operational analytics tools.

Preferred

  • Experience implementing automation, workflow, systems integration, or AI-enabled business solutions.
  • Experience supporting complex operational environments, shared service organizations, research institutions, healthcare organizations, or nonprofit enterprises.
  • Familiarity with pricing, cost allocation, cost recovery, and financial planning methodologies.

The expected base pay range for this position as listed above is based on a 40 hour per week schedule. Broad provides pay ranges representing its reasonable and good faith estimate of what the organization reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary based on factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, education, qualifications, and other factors permissible by law.
