Coordinates the processing and depositing of money received through direct mail. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Coordinates the daily processing and depositing of money received through direct mail.
  • Implements workflow and procedures for processing direct mail and makes recommendations for modifying processes to improve the efficiencies of the processes.
  • Processes payments including cash, checks, and credit cards.
  • Maintains a procedure manual identifying processes.
  • Balances all remittance processes with deposit totals and file postings, prepares deposit for armored car pickups, and transmits informational creates files to for various applications.
  • Provides training and support to direct mail remittance staff as documented in procedures.
  • Assigns daily tasks to designated direct mail remittance staff. Assists in completing the processes.
  • Provides backup support for General Receipts Specialist.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to operate mail openers and extractors, a remittance processor, and scanners.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting, banking, and remittance processing procedures.
  • Ability to communicate in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in remittance processing, finance, or accounting required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate degree is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position requires moderate physical activity requiring strength and stamina. Lifting, carrying, and moving packages of up to 40 pounds, pushing and pulling carts loaded with packages, standing and/or walking, and time at a keyboard, workstation, or desk.
  • Work is typically in a normal office administrative and mail processing environment sometimes involving exposure to mail sorting machines with moving parts, constant noise, and dust.
