ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

Manages and directs a Corporate Agribusiness Underwriting team responsible for credit risk analysis activities for the Dairy and Protein segments. Supervises, trains, and develops personnel and activities in credit analysis, underwriting, loan structuring, loan servicing, and covenant monitoring. Assures compliance with policy, procedure, and regulations. Participates in borrower prospect meetings, including negotiations. Responsible for reviewing and evaluating numerous large, complex Agriculture Business loan applications; approving loans within delegated authorities and recommending loans for approval to loan committee. May manage a small credit portfolio.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Supervises personnel and assists with selection, hiring, training and evaluation. Makes recommendations to the Head of Corporate Underwriting on promotions, salary changes, organization and staffing for the Corporate Underwriting Department.

  • Develops skills, knowledge, and credit analysis capabilities with staff, and prepares them for career paths in credit analysis, sales, and/or management. Matches and assigns loan transactions to staff based on experience and abilities.

  • Ensures effective leadership, management and controls are in place for effective customer service, and appropriate risk control.

  • Manages complex credit analysis processes and communicates effectively in all functional areas within the department. Reviews reports on covenant monitoring, loan servicing and workflow processes. Assist in maintaining effective covenant monitoring and complete and accurate database information.

  • Reviews pertinent credit and financial information on complex Agribusiness loans; determines the need for more thorough investigation or additional information; analyzes financial statements and related material; prepares summaries, presents facts and offers opinions on credit risk.

  • Recommends approval or denial of loans or takes appropriate action within individual delegated authority. May serve as a member of loan committee and participates in loan committee meetings. May manage a small portfolio consisting of large, complex, and participated credits. Management would consist of the review of financial statements, general business and economic analysis, financial analysis and modeling, recommendation on structuring, covenants and controls, nCino input, and recommendations of approval or denial within delegated lending authority.

  • Ensures compliance with all FCA regulation and Association policy and procedure, relative to credit activity within the department.

  • Works closely with Executive Head of Corporate Banking and other department Heads, Relationship Managers, Loan Documentation and Operations Support to ensure that loans are processed in an efficient and timely manner while providing a hassle-free customer service experience.

  • Works on participated or syndicated credits. Demonstrates ability to communicate and work closely with participant Associations and syndicate members. Review information memorandums prepared by underwriting staff. Must be able to travel and work in office as business needs require.

  • Assists in the interviewing of applicants, conducting collateral inspections, and preparation of credit recommendations for loan committee action. Effectively communicates Association Credit philosophy to both customers and colleagues.

  • Assists in determining appropriate legal documentation and negotiating appropriate terms and conditions. Reviews loan documents as necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

LEVELS OF SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED:

Provides direct supervision and oversight to designated staff within the Underwriting department; makes independent decisions; works under the supervision of the Head of Corporate Underwriting.

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA/BS degree with emphasis on finance, agribusiness, business administration, or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience in credit, finance, or underwriting within a financial institution.

  • Ten years of banking or related agricultural lending experience. Agribusiness or Capital Markets underwriting experience preferred.

  • Previous people leadership or management responsibilities preferred.

  • Working knowledge of agricultural lending principles and practices, and Association and FCS operating policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of FCA regulations, policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in organizing and prioritizing work to meet deadlines and maintain business functions.Dai

  • Exceptional written, verbal, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated proficiency in leading and motivating others.

  • Exceptional ability to make sound decisions involving varied levels of risks and ambiguity. Balances competing priorities when reaching decisions.

  • High level of objectivity, empathy, and diplomacy to establish and maintain an effective on-going relationship between departments, customers, bank, and regulatory agencies.

  • Ability to use software and information technology to collect, organize, retrieve, maintain, and disseminate information. Ability to use technology in new or complex situations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must have the ability to perform basic office tasks and work in a typical office or home office setting. Employees will be sitting or standing for extended periods of time and accomplishing work at a desk and work at a computer for an extended period. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills to adequately convey ideas and work well with a team. The ability to talk and hear, sit, and use their hands and fingers, and reach in all directions is essential in performance of the job. Some lifting and moving of items up to 25 pounds required. Work during established business hours and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Travel Required

PART-TIME REMOTE/HYBRID: These employees will work partly remote and partly onsite. Part-time remote employees will work with their managers to determine when and how often they are needed onsite.

PAY RANGE:

Minimum $110,300.78 - Max $214,810.77 Annual

This range is reflective of the national salary average for this position and will be adjusted using geographic variance for physical location of the hired candidate. American AgCredit may compensate outside of the salary range for bona fide reasons not related to membership in a protected class.

  • Reflected is the national base pay range and title offered for this job at the current level.

  • Compensation, title, and job level may be adjusted based on candidate qualifications including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location.

  • Salary offered, within the applicable range, is one component of the total rewards package offered to candidates.
