Job Summary
The Operations Specialist will provide operational, analytical, and administrative support to demand response programs focused on reducing electric consumption during critical grid demand periods. This role supports customer enrollment, event operations, settlements processing, vendor coordination, reporting, and operational tracking activities across the full demand response lifecycle. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing high volumes of communications, data analysis, and operational workflows in a fast-paced environment. This position requires strong Excel skills, excellent communication abilities, and the flexibility to support time-sensitive operational activities while collaborating with internal teams, vendors, and customers.

Job Responsibilities



  • Support customer enrollment workflows, application tracking, and coordination with internal teams and external participants
  • Maintain operational trackers, reports, and documentation supporting demand response program activities
  • Assist with seasonal program ramp-up, enrollment readiness, and post-season operational activities
  • Manage and support shared inbox communications, including triaging requests and routing issues appropriately
  • Respond to customer and stakeholder inquiries using established procedures and communication templates
  • Track and follow up on open operational items to ensure timely resolution
  • Support demand response event activities including pre-event checks, customer notifications, event monitoring, and post-event follow-up
  • Monitor event participation data and identify anomalies or missing information for escalation and review
  • Assist with settlements processing, data validation, reconciliations, and reporting activities
  • Review and investigate settlement discrepancies in coordination with program leads
  • Prepare operational reports, data summaries, and settlement-related documentation
  • Collaborate with vendors, customers, and internal teams to support ongoing operational activities
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency enhancements
  • Support ad hoc reporting, analytics, and special projects as program needs evolve


Job Requirements



  • Minimum 3 years of experience in operations, program coordination, analytics, settlements, utilities, energy, or related operational environments
  • Experience supporting operational workflows in fast-paced or regulated environments preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, filters, and data analysis functions
  • Experience with business intelligence tools, databases, or analytical systems preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage high volumes of emails, operational requests, and administrative tasks efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and quickly adapt to changing priorities and business needs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large datasets
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with vendors, customers, and cross-functional teams
  • Experience with settlements, billing, incentives, reconciliations, or operational reporting preferred
  • Familiarity with IT terminology, systems implementations, or software vendor coordination preferred
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and solution-focused approach


Education



  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Preferred fields of study include Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting, Engineering, Information Technology, Sciences, Environmental Studies, or related disciplines


Work Experience



  • Experience in energy, utilities, demand response, or related operational programs preferred
  • Experience supporting operational analytics, settlements, or customer program administration preferred
  • Experience working with vendors, operational systems, or workflow management processes preferred
