Purpose

To provide support and resources to student populations within the College of Liberal Arts Office of Student Engagement, including the Foundation Scholars Program (FSP).

Responsibilities
  • Student Support: Serve as a main point of contact for students in OSE affiliated programs; make referrals to campus resources and local organizations; follow up with students of concern; support students in identifying resources and solutions related to their academic, financial, and wellness concerns. Consult with faculty, Counseling and Mental Health Center, University Health Services, Disability and Access, Student Outreach and Support, Admissions, Registrar, and other university departments as needed.

  • Student Training: Provide continuous training related to first year initiatives and student success programming, including for OSE peer mentors; attend FSP mentor trainings and student seminars; maintain visible presence and welcoming environment to students in OSE programs.

  • New Student Orientation: Plan and participate in all OSE summer orientation activities; participate in college and family meetings and other orientation related activities as assigned.

  • Program Representation: Attend COLA and OSE events when called upon; assist with OSE student leadership trainings, end-of-semester celebrations, and other social events; participate in professional development and serve on committees.

  • Draft Reports: Maintain accurate records and documentation of student meetings; prepare reports on student issues and types of student cases as requested by OSE Director and COLA leadership; monitor and assess persistence, retention, and graduation rates and other important growth metrics of students in OSE programs. Maintain student participation records.

  • Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience coordinating or administering a program and professional experience working with college students; or Master's degree in a related field and one year of professional experience working with college students.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional experience beyond the required or extensive experience in advising, group work, assessment, and administration of college students' academic programs. Experience with student success programs. Knowledge of campus resources. Ability to relate well with college students, staff, and faculty. Experience at UT Austin or another large university. Experience with First Year Interest Group (FIG)/Transfer Interest Group (TRIG) programs. Experience with NRRECS, Advisors' Toolkit, personal computer experience in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Salary Range

$48,000 + depending on qualifications

Employment Eligibility:

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
