Job Summary

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-Time Seasonal

Seeking a self-directed, energetic, and highly motivated individual to provide clerical support to the Youth Sports Program. The ideal candidate contributes to a positive team spirit, responds promptly to customer needs, and shows a high level of initiative.

Position Summary

  • Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Milwaukee Recreation Part-Time Staff Manual.
  • Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to answer inquires and provide information.
  • Develop and generate participant rosters, coach rosters, staff rosters, team rosters, meeting materials, and other necessary program documents.
  • Assist with program planning (program ideas, staff identification, etc)
  • Manage completion/accuracy of league information and seasonal program information in RecTrac registration software.
  • Manage completion/accuracy of volunteer coach applications.
  • Manage completion/accuracy of staff timesheets.
  • Distribute team awards and medals to league locations.
  • Reviews new staff hire paperwork for completion. Conducts follow-up when needed.
  • Pick up needed supplies at recreation facilities as needed and haul them to designated sites.
  • Working knowledge of Youth Sports Program policies, procedures, programs, and services.
  • Assist with the coordination and training of staff, coaches, referees, and sports coordinators.
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems.
  • Serve as a back-up youth sports coach (if needed).
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
Supervision Required

Reports to the Youth Sports Manager & Supervisors.

Job Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to meet the schedule needs for this position
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs continuously.
Preferred Experience

  • Previous work experience in a public setting with a diverse population.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of office experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of organizing and or/ leading sports activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Fast learner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain files, assemble reports, and perform multiple office functions.
  • Ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
Working Environment

This environment includes walking, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and possible loud noises when exposed to activities in a gymnasium or similar environment.
