UX Researcher, Experience Design (XD) *6Month Contract*
Job Summary The UX Researcher will deliver embedded, pragmatic research that quickly identifies where experiences break down, what users need, and which improvements will drive measurable impact. This is a handson, outcomedriven role designed for speed and delivery acceleration. The work focuses on rapid discovery, usability audits, and continuous feedback loops that directly inform Experience Design (XD), Adoption Experience (AX). This is not an academic research role. Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1. Rapid Discovery and Persona Foundations * Conduct lightweight discovery to validate key user segments and contexts, including field, and partner workflows. * Translate findings into practical personas, needs, and usage contexts. * Establish shared language for user goals, constraints, and success measures across teams. 2. Usability Audits and QuickHit Recommendations * Perform usability and heuristic evaluations of priority tools and workflows to identify friction, confusion, and adoption barriers. * Deliver concise, prioritized recommendations that can be actioned quickly by XD teams. 3. Evaluation of InFlight Work (BuildAligned Research) * Run fast, iterative testing such as concept tests, moderated or unmoderated usability sessions, and prototype evaluations aligned to delivery timelines. * Provide evidencebased guidance to reduce rework and ensure experiences are ready for adoption at launch. 4. InsighttoAction Enablement * Translate research findings into clear, decisionready outputs, including insight briefs, opportunity statements, experience principles, and acceptancecriteria inputs. * Partner closely with designers to ensure insights are reflected in flows, patterns, and design system decisions. 5. AdoptionInformed Experience (in partnership with AX) * Collaborate with Adoption Experience (AX) to identify confidence, readiness, and behaviorchange risks early. * Help shape messaging, readiness activities, and reinforcement loops based on real user sentiment and observed barriers. 6. Research Operations (Lightweight and Practical) * Establish a simple cadence and repository for research learnings using tools such as Confluence so insights are reusable and not confined to meetings. * Define a lightweight research intake and prioritization approach aligned to Trade priorities. Job Requirements Education * Bachelor's degree in HumanComputer Interaction, Psychology, Human Factors, Information Science, Design Research, or equivalent practical experience. Experience * 6 to 10+ years of experience in UX research or usercentered research roles with strong qualitative methods and applied usability testing. * Experience conducting research across B2B and or B2C contexts and translating insights into actionable recommendations. * Experience working with crossfunctional teams, including design, product or solution, and technology, in fastpaced delivery environments. Required Skills (MustHaves) * Applied qualitative research skills, including interviewing, contextual inquiry, and diary or intercept methods, with rapid synthesis ability. * Usability testing expertise, including planning and running studies with prototypes and live tools and translating findings into clear recommendations. * Rapid synthesis and prioritization, with the ability to produce concise insight briefs and top friction points without lengthy cycles. * Strong stakeholder partnership skills as a trusted facilitator working credibly with business and technology teams. * Clear and concise communication with executiveready storytelling and comfort presenting findings and tradeoffs. * Close collaboration with design, including pairing with designers to turn insights into flows, patterns, and decision criteria. * Documentation discipline, including maintaining research repositories and decision tracking in Confluence and coordinating work in Jira. Preferred Skills (NicetoHaves) * Experience researching fieldenablement tools, CRM or Salesforce workflows, or distributed and fieldbased user populations. * Familiarity with design systems as a consumer of patterns and standards. * Comfort using mixed methods such as surveys or analyticsinformed research to complement qualitative insights. Physical Requirements * N/A (standard office or remote work) What Success Looks Like After 6 Months * Practical lightweight personas and user context insights exist and are actively used by XD, AX teams. * Two to three highimpact usability audits are completed, with prioritized recommendations adopted into delivery. * Research is embedded into delivery cycles through prototype testing and prelaunch validation, reducing rework and improving adoption readiness. * A lightweight research cadence and reusable repository are established so insights scale beyond individual projects. *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract position based out of Winston Salem, NC. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $80.00/hr.
