*Software Engineer (Backend)*
*Gaithersburg, MD* *U.S. Citizenship Required | TS/SCI Eligible* We're hiring a Software Engineer to support highimpact, missiondriven systems that directly affect real-world users. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy backend development, building RESTful APIs, and working in Linux environments while contributing to meaningful national security initiatives. You'll work alongside experienced engineers in a collaborative, Agile environment, helping design, build, and enhance modern software solutions used every day by critical end users. *What You'll Do* * Design, develop, and maintain backend software using objectoriented programming principles * Build and support RESTful APIs within established architectural frameworks * Write and maintain SQL queries, supporting data validation and database updates * Develop and troubleshoot applications in Linux-based environments * Identify, debug, and resolve application defects and performance issues * Collaborate with senior engineers and crossfunctional team members * Follow coding standards, participate in code reviews, and contribute to documentation *What We're Looking For* *Required:* * U.S. Citizenship (required per contract) * Bachelor's degree with 4-8 years of experience or Master's degree with 2-6 years of experience * Professional experience with Python and/or Java * Experience developing or maintaining RESTful services * Strong SQL skills with relational databases * Working knowledge of Linux * Ability to work independently within established technical guidelines *Nice to Have:* * JavaScript or frontend exposure * Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred) * Familiarity with Docker, OpenShift, or containerized environments * Exposure to cloud platforms * Experience with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Tomcat, or Maven * Agile development experience *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gaithersburg, MD. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $62.50 - $78.00/hr.
