TELS
The Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences (
TELS) comprises 40 full-time faculty members preparing more than 500 undergraduate and graduate students and 200 students in alternative teacher licensure programs. We prepare students to work in a range of fields across various programs that include Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Equity, Educational Psychology, Elementary Education (with a
STEM focus), Reading Education, Learning Analytics, Learning Design and Technology, Middle and Secondary English Language Arts and Social Studies, Multilingual Education/English as a Second Language, and Special Education. We advance education through scholarship, leadership, and advocacy. We prepare professionals who are committed to provide learning opportunities for all and who have deep content knowledge, demonstrate strong working knowledge of effective pedagogies, and realize the potential of digital technologies to enhance learning. We shape the field of education by engaging in research that addresses current challenges, and by participating in cross-disciplinary work that deals with real problems in forward-looking ways. The department exemplifies an innovative merging of teacher education and the learning sciences that results in new pathways for teaching, scholarship, leadership, and service. Elevate, NC State's inclusive postsecondary education program, accepted its first cohort of students in Spring 2025. Administratively housed in the Department of Teacher Education and Learning Sciences in the College of Education, Elevate is a university-wide initiative designed for North Carolina residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (
IDD) and offers educational credentials, such as certificates. The program focuses on five pillars of success: academics, employment, personal development, independent living and social engagement. |

| Essential Job Duties |
This is an internal posting for current NC State permanent and temporary employees, and candidates with RIF priority.
The Program Associate is a key member of the Elevate team at NC State, supporting the day-to-day operations of the inclusive postsecondary education program for North Carolina students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Reporting to the Program Director, this position helps keep day-to-day operations running smoothly so staff and students can focus on growth, learning, and success.
Key responsibilities align with the following four functional areas:
Program & Administrative Operations
- Provide day-to-day administrative and clerical support to program staff, including coordinating meetings, schedules, and calendars; reserve meeting spaces and track notes and followups
- Manage program files, databases, and shared drives to keep information accurate and accessible
- Oversee student employee timekeeping and scheduling
- Coordinate logistics (i.e. spaces, materials, vendors, communications) to ensure smooth delivery of workshops, information sessions, and stakeholder events
Student Services Support
- Organize peer coaching and student support schedules
- Assist with academic and co-curricular programming, including supporting recruitment and retention of volunteers
Data Management and Reporting
- Track and manage program data related to participation, progress and outcomes
- Help prepare reports and presentations for stakeholders
- Follow confidentiality and records management requirements when handling sensitive information
Outreach and Communication
- Engage with community partners and stakeholders by assisting with social media content, website updates, and program materials

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience supporting student services, higher education programs, or community-based initiatives
- Strong organizational and timemanagement skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Proficiency with office and collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; comfort working with shared files or databases
- Knowledge of or interest in supporting students with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Experience contributing to communications efforts such as social media, newsletters, or website updates
