About this unit

The Butterworth OR is a level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital. The department consists of twenty-one (21) operating rooms that provide 24/7 patient care including the support of procedures across the medical center in other departments. Our multidisciplinary team of providers including anesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, surgical technicians, and support technicians collaborate to provide high quality, safe patient care. The surgical team is trained in many specialties including but not limited to orthopedic and neurosurgical trauma, acute care surgery, women's health, urology, oncology, and general surgery. The Butterworth operative department utilizes many care delivery technologies such as DaVinci and Rosa robotics, Stealth guided navigation, and intra-operative MRI technology. All of this combines to maintain our focus on safe, efficient patient-centered care.

Scope of work

Registered Nurse service-line expert familiar with all procedures completed in their departments. Responsible for efficient surgical case completion. Supporting direct patient care through working knowledge of the technology, equipment, instruments and supplies required for surgical procedure completion. Collaborates with all patient care providers to efficiently complete the day's cases on schedule. Reviews upcoming surgical procedures to coordinate staffing and required imaging and supplies. Develops standard work to drive consistency and eliminate delays. Actively educates team members on proper set up and use of equipment and technology for patient care. Anticipates surgeon, patient and team needs and problem solves in advance so that cases run smoothly.

Qualifications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree Nursing

  • Preferred Master's Degree Nursing

  • 5 years of relevant experience previous procedural nursing experience Required

  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required

  • CRT-Nurse in OR (CNOR) - AORN Association of perioOperative Registered Nurses Grand Rapids Hospitals 1 Year required

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Grand Rapids Hospitals 90 Days required Or

  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Grand Rapids Hospitals 90 Days required

  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association Grand Rapids Hospitals 120 Days preferred Or

  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association Grand Rapids Hospitals 120 Days preferred
