YOUR IMPACT

As a Vice President leading Counterparty Risk within Global Risk Management at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, you will lead a critical risk function supporting informed risk-taking across financing, derivatives and trading activities. You will assess and evaluate counterparty exposures, trading agreements, and influence risk appetite through independent, data-driven insights.

Working closely with portfolio managers, trading, legal and senior stakeholders, you will strengthen counterparty risk frameworks, enhance transparency on exposures, and improve stress testing and reporting to identify concentrations, assess counterparty resilience and inform decision-making.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL:

As a Vice President leading Counterparty Risk within Global Risk Management at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, you will lead a small global team and partner closely with trading, derivatives legal, credit risk, liquidity operations and divisional risk leadership. You will be responsible for:



  • Leading, coaching and developing your team; setting priorities, ensuring high-quality delivery and fostering a culture of curiosity and constructive challenge
  • Owning counterparty risk coverage across trading relationships, providing independent perspectives that influence risk appetite and transaction-level decisions
  • Oversee exposure monitoring, limit frameworks and stress testing to identify concentrations, assess counterparty resilience and escalate emerging risks
  • Deliver clear, actionable reporting to senior stakeholders on counterparty exposures, trends and key risk themes
  • Drive enhancements to counterparty risk frameworks, analytics and tooling in partnership with Engineering and Technology teams



SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Qualifications and experience



  • 7+ years of relevant experience counterparty and/or credit risk management, ideally buy-side, covering derivatives, financing and trading activities
  • Deep understanding of counterparty risk, including exposure measurement, collateral dynamics, concentration risk and stress scenarios across trading relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with senior stakeholders (PMs, Trading, Legal and Risk) and influence decisions through independent, well-reasoned risk perspectives
  • Experience overseeing risk frameworks and governance, including limit structures, stress testing and escalation of material risks
  • Track record of delivering clear, actionable reporting to senior management and engaging effectively in governance forums
  • Strong relationship skills, with experience managing and developing a team, and driving high-quality execution
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, ideally with hands-on experience developing risk analytics and some familiarity with programming and BI tools (e.g., Python, Tableau/Power BI)
  • Highly organised, intellectually curious and proactive, with excellent verbal and written communication

Salary Range

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
