About the role

The Fraud Optimization & Monitoring Team within Marcus US Deposits provides the essential structure and oversight necessary to protect Marcus US Deposits. By driving excellence in procedural standards, monitoring and process optimization, we ensure that all fraud and operational risk policies are upheld. Our mission is to govern the fraud program through robust frameworks that minimize risk and maximize efficiency.

The Analyst will be a key contributor to the Agent Monitoring team, conducting monitoring and transforming data into actionable insights while driving trend analysis and operational risk reporting. This role is essential to the success of our monitoring operations, serving as a primary engine for data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end investigations of flagged activities by leveraging advanced analytical techniques to detect anomalies, ensuring high-precision documentation to support organizational risk mitigation efforts.
  • Conduct data management processes, including extraction, cleansing, and rigorous validation, to ensure the integrity of data used for trend analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with the design, development, and optimization of dashboards to monitor agent patterns.
  • Maintain oversight of dashboards, trackers, and documentation across fraud functions to ensure they are up-to-date, accurate, and complete.
  • Deliver high-impact ad hoc extraction and analysis to address urgent business inquiries and support strategic organizational initiatives.
  • Assist with the facilitation of operational risk event reporting to ensure alignment with policies and standards.
  • Partner with the Exception Review team to identify behavioral trends among agents and propose data-backed mitigation strategies and process improvements.
  • Facilitate cross-team discussions to determine the path forward for identified agent gaps or errors and ensure corrective actions are executed accurately and timely.
  • Be a critical thinker: Remain thoughtful, self-aware, and use available evidence to determine root causes and solutions.
  • Work effectively with teammates and win credibility quickly to drive results across the organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in any field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience in fraud, monitoring, or risk analysis.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience in fraud operations, internal audit, or financial crimes, with a strong emphasis on data-driven risk analysis and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with current fraud typologies and the ability to translate these into monitoring logic.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization platforms (Tableau/Power BI), with a proven track record of managing and validating large datasets; must possess the analytical aptitude and willingness to acquire proficiency in Alteryx for workflow automation.
  • Strong attention to detail with experience in root-cause analysis for fraud events and the ability to validate data integrity for reporting.
  • Critical thinking, written communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present fraud risk findings and mitigation strategies to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated ability to "self-serve" data to investigate patterns and make decisions.
