EH&S Manager

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the EHS Manager is responsible for providing technical guidance related to Environmental, Health, and Safety across the facility. This role leads the development and implementation of the plant's safety management systems, including hazard identification, risk assessments, mitigation planning, compliance auditing, and regulatory reporting.

The EHS Manager also supports continuous improvement initiatives, identifies cost reduction opportunities, and serves as the safety subject matter expert (SME) for capital project design, management, and execution.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partner with manufacturing leaders to maintain safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible working conditions.
  • Train and educate employees on required safety procedures including PPE, LOTO, ergonomics, and hazardous materials handling.
  • Participate as a key member of plant operations to help resolve issues that impact safety, quality, cost, and productivity.
  • Provide proactive technical guidance related to environmental, health, and safety programs.
  • Lead and support incident and accident investigations, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Manage the facility's hazardous and residual waste programs.
  • Identify and implement improvements to environmental and safety systems, procedures, and compliance programs.
  • Lead hazard identification efforts and facilitate risk assessments across plant operations.
  • Develop mitigation plans for process safety risks and manage projects to implement those plans.
  • Ensure all required process safety documentation for identified hazards is maintained.
  • Identify safety training needs and deliver training using internal resources or external consultants.
  • Support and safely execute capital projects while meeting cost, schedule, and performance expectations.
  • Share technical knowledge across the organization to strengthen overall EHS awareness and performance.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as an on-call EHS contact when necessary.

  • Dust monitoring
  • Chemical exposure monitoring

Safety

  • Risk assessment and reduction
  • Incident investigation
  • Safety coaching and employee engagement
  • Area and line safety audits
  • Safety leadership initiatives
  • Training programs and recognition initiatives

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations including root cause analysis and 5-Why methodology.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively within a diverse manufacturing environment.
  • Experience partnering with production teams to support compliance and operational improvement initiatives.
  • Strong documentation and recordkeeping practices with the ability to leverage technology to improve processes and accuracy.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience supporting EHS programs in manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Experience managing process safety programs and risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Strong project management and facilitation skills.
  • Experience supporting or leading capital projects with safety oversight.
  • Professional certifications such as ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH, or CHMM.
  • Ability to transfer technical knowledge and coach employees to strengthen safety culture.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Environmental, Health & Safety programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of safety management experience in manufacturing.
  • Project management experience preferred.

Travel

Minimal travel required (less than 5%).
