Under general supervision, performs maintenance and repair work on automotive and related equipment, trucks, construction equipment, and other special equipment. Nature and Scope
This is the journey-level classification in the Vehicle Mechanic series. The work is distinguished from that of the Senior Vehicle Mechanic in that incumbents in the Vehicle Mechanic class do not overhaul or perform major repairs of hydraulic equipment, transmissions, or engines with power-take-off apparatus or other integral directly-driven accessory equipment. The next lower class of Vehicle Attendant services vehicles and performs other minor repair and maintenance functions. Duties and Responsibilities
