Position Overview:The Process Design Specialist supports the Transformation Office by analyzing and documenting current state business processes and leading defined portions of future state process redesign ahead of system implementation. This role translates business needs and insights into lean, scalable, implementation-ready workflows enabled by data-informed decision-making. Working closely with senior designers, business partners, IT, and the project team to facilitate cross-functional alignment. Success in this role requires strong analytical, documentation, facilitation, and continuous improvement skills with the ability to lead moderately complex redesign projects with increasing independence.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week in the Bloomington or Thief River Falls office. Domestic travel between DigiKey offices may be required to provide localized support. Responsibilities:

Process Analysis & Insights

  • Analyze current-state processes to identify inefficiencies, gaps, bottlenecks, and pain points

  • Synthesize data, metrics, and stakeholder input into clear problem statements and design requirements

  • Conduct and document root cause analysis using standard continuous improvement tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto)

Documentation & Artifacts

  • Document end-to-end workflows, value streams, and process maps using standard tools and templates

  • Develop and maintain version-controlled process documentation aligned to governance standards

  • Compile process metrics, insights, and supporting materials to inform design decisions

Future-State Process Design

  • Support and lead scoped future-state process design efforts aligned to strategy and system capabilities

  • Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to simplify, standardize, and scale processes when analyzing processes and identifying improvement opportunities

  • Produce implementation-ready artifacts (e.g., future-state maps, swim lanes, RACI, SOP outlines)

  • Identify risks and process gaps early and escalate with recommended mitigation options

Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Facilitate and support cross-functional workshops and working sessions

  • Capture decisions, action items, and assumptions; drive alignment and decision closure

  • Collaborate with senior designers, business partners, and engineers across workstreams

Implementation Readiness & Integration

  • Translate process designs into system-ready requirements and documentation

  • Partner with IT and project teams to support build, test, UAT, and deployment readiness

  • Validate scenarios, role-based task flows, and exception handling

Change Enablement & Continuous Improvement

  • Support change management through process communications, training inputs, and adoption materials

  • Reinforce standard work and continuous improvement practices post-implementation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, or related field with 0-2 years relevant experience; or 1-2 years' experience in process analysis, process improvement, business analysis, or operations transformation roles

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (required)

  • Demonstrated experience applying Lean and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently with collaborating effectively within cross functional teams

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience creating and maintaining process maps and documentation (current and future state)

  • Strong analytical thinking, facilitation, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with process mapping or visualization tools (e.g., Lucid, Visio, Celonis)

  • Experience to data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Smartsheet)

  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Manhattan EP&F, or similar enterprise systems

  • Experience in distribution, supply chain, or operations focused environments

  • Knowledge of DigiKey's operations, systems, or business model

  • Additional certifications or training in BPM, Agile/Scrum, or PROSCI Change Management

Physical Requirements:
  • Primarily sedentary work performed at a desk or workstation

  • Moderate office noise levels

  • Frequent use of computer devices and repetitive hand and head movements

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is:

$28.00

to

$38.50
