Tax Project Manager - Tax Operations and Strategic Initiatives (Accountant IV)

Location: Hybrid within FL service area locations, periodic travel as needed

Your role in our success:

This position will help ensure compliance across all tax domains-while supporting strategic initiatives to optimize tax benefits and mitigate exposure. This position will also assist in preparing and reviewing US GAAP income tax entries and collaborating across departments to support financial reporting and regulatory requirements. This position may include tax accounting close, preparing and reviewing tax returns, conducting multi-jurisdictional tax research, and supporting strategic planning initiatives to minimize tax liabilities and ensure regulatory compliance. The role requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external advisors.

What you'll be working on:



  • Spearheading technology and process improvements (S4/HANA)
  • Preparing or reviewing monthly close (Power Plan - Provision)
  • Preparing, reviewing or filing consolidated federal and state tax returns, and supporting files (OneSource Compliance)
  • Process documentation
  • Collaborating with internal and external teams
  • Assisting with tax planning projects and quarterly tax projections
  • Researching tax opportunities and tax law changes
  • Ensuring compliance with all filings, mandates, and law changes
  • Responding to tax notices and audits
  • Performing tax research and presenting findings to management
  • Perform other job-related duties, as assigned


Who you are:



  • Bachelor of Science in accounting, finance, business or other related field

  • Five (5) years minimum of relevant tax experience in public accounting or related industry



  • Experience in S4/HANA preferred



  • Experience in PowerTax a plus



  • Familiar with the Utility industry a plus


  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong skills in MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work proactively and independently
  • Ability to identify and implement process efficiencies
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and properly prioritize
  • Solid understanding of state tax laws
  • Ability to contribute as a team player and work effectively within a team
  • Ability to continuously learn to develop skills, enhance performance and prepare for growth
  • Regular Driver's License
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
