Description

Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is a key member of the ETI finance team responsible for cost accounting, inventory integrity, and manufacturing financial reporting within a multi-plant tank trailer manufacturing environment. This role primarily supports the Opole (MTO) location while collaborating with ETI North American Controllers to ensure accurate, timely, and actionable financial reporting across plants. This position partners closely with plant operations leadership to analyze production performance, labor and overhead variances, inventory trends, and cost drivers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working both in the office and in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing & Cost Accounting



  • Own and analyze manufacturing variance accounts, including material, labor, overhead, and purchase price variance (PPV).
  • Review Bills of Material (BOMs) and work orders for cost accuracy and proper absorption.
  • Calculate and update standard labor and overhead rates (minimum bi-annually).
  • Analyze monthly manufacturing performance trends and spend variances.
  • Partner with Purchasing and Sourcing to review PPV and cost drivers.


Inventory & Controls



  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts and physical inventory processes.
  • Prepare excess and obsolete inventory analysis and recommend reserve adjustments.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls related to manufacturing and inventory accounting.
  • Post inventory transactions and support inventory reporting across ETI North American plants as needed.


Month-End Close & Financial Reporting



  • Prepare and post journal entries and complete reconciliations for accounts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end close of plant financial results.
  • Prepare labor and overhead reporting across plants.
  • Develop and distribute financial analysis to plant leadership to explain operational results.


Operational Partnership



  • Participate in production meetings and Lean events at the MTO plant.
  • Provide financial insight into operational initiatives and cost improvement efforts.
  • Act as a financial liaison between plant leadership and corporate finance.


Additional Responsibilities



  • Support cross-plant reporting and special projects as assigned by Plant Controller(s).
  • Assist with audit/tax support and documentation requests as required.
  • Various other weekly/monthly/annual reporting duties.
  • Other items as assigned by leadership.


Skills & Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting environment.
  • Experience in standard costing and inventory accounting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of labor, overhead, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with operations personnel in a plant environment.
  • Some travel to other North American plants expected (approximately 10-15%).
