We are looking for a Senior Retirement Plan Manager who will lead the administration and continuous improvement of our retirement programs while ensuring a seamless experience for our team members.
This role oversees SSP's retirement programs including the 401(k), pension, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong operational controls. The Senior Retirement Plan Manager partners closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and external vendors to deliver reliable program administration while supporting team members as they plan for their financial future.

What You'll Do:
Lead Retirement Plan Operations & Administration
- Oversee day-to-day operations for SSP's 401(k), pension, and deferred compensation plans to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Administer plan eligibility, enrollments, contributions, distributions, loans, and related plan activities.
- Maintain strong operational controls and documentation that support reliable plan administration.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen operational efficiency.
Manage Vendors & Resolve Operational Issues
- Serve as the primary operational contact for retirement plan recordkeepers, trustees, actuaries, and auditors.
- Monitor vendor performance, service levels, and data accuracy across plan operations.
- Escalate and resolve operational issues quickly while strengthening processes with vendor partners.
Support Team Members Through Education & Guidance
- Provide clear and responsive guidance to team members regarding retirement plan features and options.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, and Finance teams to address plan questions and troubleshoot issues.
- Support development of retirement communications including enrollment materials and required notices.
- Promote team member financial well-being through accessible retirement resources.
Ensure Compliance & Strong Governance
- Maintain compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, and other regulatory requirements.
- Keep retirement plan documents, amendments, and administrative procedures accurate and up to date.
- Support regulatory filings and ensure all compliance activities are completed on schedule.
- Stay current on industry changes and regulatory updates to strengthen plan governance.
Support Audits & Maintain Data Integrity
- Coordinate annual retirement plan audits with internal teams and external auditors.
- Gather and reconcile plan data while partnering with Payroll and Finance to address discrepancies.
- Document corrective actions and support improvements that strengthen plan controls.
Lead Team Collaboration & Service Excellence
- Provide day-to-day guidance and organization for team members supporting retirement operations.
- Partner with HR and operational leaders to ensure consistent service delivery across the business.
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment aligned with SSP's values.
Drive Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Review workflows to identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.
- Use data insights to evaluate plan performance and identify trends.
- Champion continuous learning and operational excellence within retirement program administration.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of HR or Benefits experience including at least 3 years administering retirement plans.
- Working knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor requirements.
- Experience managing retirement vendors and complex benefit program workflows.
- Experience supporting employees in a union environment preferred.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience working in multi-location or fast-paced environments such as hospitality or retail preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CEBS or RPA preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 20% within the U.S. and Canada.
- Must be able to pass required background checks and maintain airport security clearances.
