Job Description:

We are a full-service Fire Protection and Life Safety provider offering design, installation, service, and inspection services. Our company supports a wide range of systems including fire sprinkler, fire alarm, fire suppression, portable extinguishers, kitchen hoods, security, access control, video management (CCTV), nurse call, and intercom/paging systems. Our business is evenly split between service and installation work, serving commercial, industrial, and specialty markets.

Position Overview

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for generating and developing new business opportunities and supporting the sales team through proactive outreach, lead qualification, and follow-up. This role serves as a key connection between prospective clients and our internal sales staff, ensuring opportunities are properly communicated and advanced through the sales process.

This position does require prior technical expertise in fire protection or life safety systems. We are looking for someone who is outgoing, professional, inquisitive, and eager to learn.

Requirements:

  • Generate new leads and business opportunities through outreach, referrals, networking, research, and inbound follow-up
  • Engage potential clients to understand high-level needs and identify next steps
  • Qualify opportunities and hand-off leads to appropriate sales representatives
  • Collaborate closely with sales staff to support follow-up and opportunity development
  • Maintain accurate records of activities and opportunities in CRM (Sales Hub) or ServiceTrade tracking systems
  • Represent the company in a professional and personable manner
  • Continuously learn company services, customer types, and industry fundamentals

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Outgoing, energetic, and comfortable initiating conversations
  • Highly organized with strong follow-through
  • Curious mindset and willingness to learn technical concepts
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred:

  • Experience in business development, sales support, or customer service
  • Familiarity with construction, fire protection, security, or life-safety industries
  • Experience using CRM (Sales Hub) or ServiceTrade tracking software
