Executive Director, Advancement Services

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Advancement, the Executive Director for Advancement Services is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing day-to-day operations and long-term projects for five teams within Advancement and External Relations (Prospect Discovery and Research, Prospect Management, Advancement Data Systems, Salesforce Administration and Gift Processing). This role will lead a responsive, creative, and service-oriented department that meets the data, reporting, information and record-keeping needs of a robust advancement operation. The Executive Director of Advancement Services will also have input into office-wide strategic decisions about allocating resources, evaluating staff, and identifying areas of opportunity to increase philanthropic support and alumni engagement.

What You'll Do:


  • Development and implementation of department strategic plan, including project management for technology investments and updates, for a comprehensive advancement services program that supports year-to-year advancement activities and capital campaign.
  • Manage Advancement Services team and departmental operations to deliver key information services within Advancement and for university leadership. Implement effective managerial processes to achieve strategic and annual goals within the department. Oversees the development, evaluation, and supervision of the larger team.
  • Identify and revise internal business processes across Advancement to align with new technology tools and resources.
  • Oversight of policies related to the proper use of alumni, student, parent and donor information, as well as gift processing protocols, in collaboration with university partners.
  • This position will manage the budget for advancement services departments.



What You'll Need:




  • Supervisory experience. Direct supervision of five unit directors (Prospect Discovery and Research, Prospect Management, Advancement Data Systems, Salesforce Administration and Gift Processing).

  • BA/BS degree required;

  • 8+ years of related higher education experience (or equivalent in a large non-profit, foundation, or civic organization) with complex information systems and staff management;

  • Experience managing budgets, contracts and relationships with vendors;

  • Demonstrated history of overseeing service units and improving customer service systems and response times;

  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in Advancement systems and related data, reporting and gift processing activities.

  • Experience with and understanding of Salesforce and related systems.

  • Ability to interact with high level internal staff and external volunteers.

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and work effectively under time constraints.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Project management expertise.



The anticipated hiring range for this position is: $119,397 to $135,000.
The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience, education and other factors including departmental budget.
