The Brain Aging and Dementia (BAnD) Lab is part of the Martinos Center in the Charlestown Navy Yard. The lab's research is primarily focused on neuroimaging (MRI, ultrasound, EEG, PET, MEG) and combining that imaging with behavioral and clinical variables to look at vascular contributions to brain aging and dementias. The lab's study population is generally over the age of 50. Depending on the study, some recruit cognitively healthy adults, some individuals with mild cognitive impairment, and some with Alzheimer's or dementia.
The Project Manager will work under the supervision of Dr. David Salat. They will be responsible for the management of multiple clinical research studies and the direct hiring and supervision of all staff, including Clinical Research Coordinators and Research Technicians. They will serve as the key liaison between the IRB, collaborating labs, site PIs, as well as all levels of study staff. They will also coordinate trial initiation, patient recruitment, and expedite project approval and study start-up time. Responsibilities also include participation in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for the projects, developing advertising strategies to support recruitment activities, oversee budget management and subcontracts with associated institutions.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required

Experience
Project management experience 2-3 years required

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises operations of all study staff
  • Ensure the timely and successful completion of project milestones:
    • Communicate milestones to the investigative teams responsible for them
    • Facilitate communication between teams as needed to achieve milestones
    • Monitor progress and propose actions to overcome obstacles
    • Communicate progress and issues to the PI
  • Writes and edits operations manuals, policies and procedures for studies
  • Assist with data quality assurance
  • Manage documentation and training materials for team members
    • Work with team members to compile documentation for common data acquisition and analysis pipelines
    • Ensure that documentation remains up to date
  • Organize and schedule meetings for the lab members, PIs, and collaborators
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the investigative team:
    • Preparation of grant proposals, manuscripts, and presentations
    • Maintenance of IRB or biosafety protocols and material transfer agreements
    • Scheduling of scan sessions
    • Packing and shipping of biological samples to collaborating sites
    • Purchasing requests for equipment and supplies
  • Assist with team supervision:
    • Onboard new team members
    • Supervise research assistants
    • Assist with performance reviews and corrective action

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred

Experience
Required: Research Related Experience 3-5 years required, and Supervisory Experience 1-2 years preferred

  • A background relevant to neuroscience, as evidenced by relevant coursework.
