Children's Hospital Colorado Simulation Program is dedicated to enhancing patient safety, improving preparedness, and advancing outcomes through best practices in simulation-based education.
Since its inception in 2013 as a centralized 2,000- square-foot space, the program has grown to serve over 2,500 learners annually through a hub and spoke model, training and supporting simulation activities throughout the system of care. It offers interprofessional high-fidelity code simulations, in situ simulations in clinical environments, operational readiness evaluations, and various skills training events. Collaborating closely with the Patient Safety team, Code Committee, and other partners, the program supports quality initiatives and process improvements across the organization.
Accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare for Core Operations, Teaching and Education, and Systems Integration, the Simulation Program remains a vital resource for fostering excellence in healthcare delivery.

Additional Information
Department Name: Simulation Center
Job Status: Full time,4 hours per week.
Shift: Primarily Mon - Friday, 8-5 pm with some off-shift simulation events - On-site, in-person position

Primarily daytime hours, with occasional early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts and instructional designers to develop simulation-based curricula that align with the educational objectives of healthcare programs or institutions. Create scenarios, case studies, and learning materials to ensure realistic and relevant simulations.
  • Simulation Facilitation: Facilitate simulation sessions for healthcare professionals, students, and interdisciplinary teams. Set up simulation equipment, mannequins, and other resources required for the scenarios. Operate simulation software and manage scenarios to create dynamic learning experiences.
  • Debriefing and Feedback: Conduct thorough debriefing sessions after simulations to guide participants through reflective discussions about their performance. Provide constructive feedback to help learners identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Technical Support: Ensure the proper functioning of simulation equipment and troubleshoot technical issues during simulation sessions. Familiarize participants with simulation tools and technology.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously review and refine simulation scenarios and educational methodologies to enhance the learning experience and align with simulation best practices and patient safety.
  • Training and Orientation: Organize orientation sessions and training workshops to introduce participants to the simulation environment, equipment, and debriefing process.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay updated with advancements in simulation technology, healthcare practices, and educational methods. Introduce innovative techniques and simulation modalities to enhance the learning process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience
    • Required:Five (5) years of experience working in a hospital-based healthcare setting.
  • Equivalency
    • Four years experience above stated requirements may substitute for bachelor's degree.
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Basic Life Support
  • Preferred Requirements
    • Pediatric clinical experience within the last 5 years

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $76,368.20 to $114,552.29
