Materials Scheduling Manager

The Materials Scheduling Manager is responsible for leading the Quartz BU's Scheduling function across its three U.S. plants. The main deliverables are improved OTIF (On Time in Full) service, reduced Days of Inventory (DOI), and reduced lead times. The individual with have active engagement across the organization, including Commercial, ISR, Operations, Finance, and Quality, etc. This role is a key to improve overall execution of customer orders in a timely and in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and provides oversight to Scheduling team members for multiple product lines at three plants in the U.S. Serves as a back-up for all schedulers.
  • Tracks OTIF (On Time in Full) service performance including accurate coding of the misses. Identifies and works with schedulers and operations teams to avoid misses. Leads CI efforts cross-functionally to improve overall OTIF.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact for Production Planning and liaison with Commercial, Logistics, and Manufacturing departments.
  • Expedite management - "distressed orders" or other errors, replacements, quick-turn management, order swaps / overall capacity management, order status updates with ISR's (and follow-up with planners on potential improvements).
  • Supply Chain owner for new product introduction (NPI) workflow process - managing requests for Raw/Semi-Finished Materials.
  • Review and publish lead times for respective product lines.
  • Attends plant meetings and Gemba walk to understand how Scheduling can support overall operational plans and any actions needed due to any interruptions. Provide inputs to Site Leadership for continuous improvements.
  • Be a member of campaign management team to address and implement new approaches.
  • Inventory management of raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods for three plants.
  • Lead SAP management of all packaging materials including setting right safety stock levels and periodic review to adjust MRP/SAP parameters to ensure steady supply.
  • Identifies any capacity bottlenecks and works effectively with Operations to develop a plan to mitigate deficits.
  • Participates in supply meetings with Sales and Operations Team; leads additional planning meetings with Sales, Production, Logistics, Purchasing, and Customer Service staff. Leads furnace and tungsten planning meetings.
  • Develop detailed documentation of scheduling process and work towards developing one common process with using SAP tools/best practice optimally.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering/ Business Administration
  • 10 + Years of Experience in Supply Chain/Commercial/Operations Role
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent Analytical skills and strong process mindset
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS)
  • Experience with different facets of supply chain- planning, scheduling, logistics and purchasing
  • Experience with S-4 Hana including implementation experience
  • Six Sigma/Lean and Continuous Improvement Exposure

  • Based in Newark, OH manufacturing site (4 days per week onsite)10%-20% (Willoughby and Highland Plant, Ohio)
