Quality Technician - Grand Prairie, Texas

Payrate: $23.65

Day Shift: 5:00AM-1:30PM

PPG Aerospace'sTransparencies Divisiondesigns and manufactures advancedaircrafttransparencies, includingcanopies, windows, windshields, and specialty transparenciesused on military and commercialaircraft. Our products are precision aerospace components that require strict adherence to engineering, quality, and regulatory standards.

ThePPG Aerospace Quality Techniciansupports the manufacture of these products by ensuring materials, processes, and finished assemblies meetengineering drawings, customer requirements, and AS9100 quality standards. This role is focused oninspection, compliance, and quality controlwithin an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Performinprocess, final, and receiving inspectionsof aerospace transparency components and assemblies

• Inspect toengineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements

• Verify compliance withAS9100, customer, and regulatory standards

• Perform and documentFirst Article Inspections (FAI)per AS9102

• Conduct dimensional and visual inspections usingprecision measurement tools

• Identify, document, and processnonconforming materialin accordance withquality procedures

• Supportroot cause analysisand corrective actions

• Review manufacturing and inspection documentation for accuracy and completeness

• Maintain quality records in electronic quality systems

• Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits

• Ensure adherence toITAR and export control requirements

• Experience inaerospace quality, inspection, or manufacturing quality assurance

• Strong ability to read and interpret:

• Engineering drawings

• GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

• Customer and internal specifications

• Working knowledge ofAS9100 quality management system requirements

• Experience performing or supporting:

• First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR / AS9102)

• Nonconformance documentation and MRB processes

• Proficiencywith common inspection tools, including:

• Calipers, micrometers, height gauges

• Indicators, thread gauges, bore gauges

• Basic knowledge ofSPC and statistical concepts

• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience withaircrafttransparencies, composites, structures, or assemblies

• Experience usingCMM or advanced measurement systems

• Familiarity with:

• Root cause analysis tools (5 Why, Fishbone)

• Corrective and preventive action (CAPA)

• Experience supportingcustomer or regulatory audits

• Experience with SAP or other manufacturing quality systems

• Prior work in anaerospace or defense manufacturing environment

Education

• High School Diploma or GEDrequired

• Technical certification, associate degree, or aerospace quality training preferred

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Work performed in amanufacturing and inspection environment

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform detailed inspections for extended periods

• Ability to read fine print, drawings, and measurement scales

• Ability to lift, move, and transferaircrafttransparencies(including canopies and windows) between inspection tables, carts, and workstations, with or withoutassistance,in accordance withsafety procedures

• Use ofappropriate personalprotective equipment (PPE) asrequired
