Overview

We are looking for a Principal Group Engineering Manager (GEM) to lead the Meeting Prep engineering team-a mission critical pillar of Microsoft's Calendar and Copilot experiences.

This team builds the intelligence that helps people show up preparedtomeetings: synthesizing context across calendar, email, documents, and conversations to deliver concise,highqualitybriefs before meetings. The role sits at the intersection ofapplied AI, productivity, and product craft, and requires a leader who can translate ambiguous user needs into durable, scalable systems.

Responsibilities
  • Work withLTand PM team to create and propose the vision,strategyand long-term road map for our Meeting Prep AI initiative.
  • Review design and implementation and ensure it is aligned with our long-term vision and roadmap.
  • Create execution roadmap and lead/drive the engineering team to execute on the vision
  • Work with PM and partner teams to build and support services and infrastructure needs.
  • Recruit and build a engineering team with diverse and inclusive culture
  • Coach and guide leaders and engineers in the engineering team


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building AIPowered productivity or developer tools.
  • Deep product judgment-knowing when "good enough" is not good enough.
  • Familiarity with largescale evaluation, quality frameworks, and telemetry for AI systems.
  • Experience working across Calendar, Mail, or documentcentric ecosystems.
  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience, including4+ years of engineering management.
  • Proven experience leadingmultiple teams or managersin complex product areas.
  • Technical background in distributed systems and AI.
  • Track recordof shippingcustomerfacingfeatures with high quality and adoption.
  • Efficient Written and verbal communication skills.

Software Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $163,000 - $296,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $220,800 - $331,200 per year.
