Job Description




As a Security Officer - Government Site - Access Control in Tampa, FL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal at a government location where you will support access control operations, verify credentials, manage visitor and badge processes, and monitor entry points. You will complete routine patrols of assigned areas, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and deliver professional customer service through clear communication and quick issue escalation. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to all visitors, employees, and contractors by carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government location.
  • Control access at designated entry points by checking identification, confirming authorization, and directing individuals to appropriate areas.
  • Process visitors by issuing temporary credentials, maintaining visitor logs, and coordinating access approvals with authorized site contacts.
  • Monitor doors, gates, and other controlled openings to help maintain orderly entry and help to deter unauthorized access.
  • Operate access control systems such as badge readers, intercoms, and sign-in systems, and report equipment issues per site procedure.
  • Screen packages, deliveries, and materials per site policy, and route items to appropriate receiving areas.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, notifications, and documentation.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location, interior spaces, and perimeter, checking for policy violations, suspicious activity, and security-related concerns.
  • Complete daily activity reports, incident reports, and access logs with clear, accurate details, and communicate key information during shift turnover.
  • Support emergency and evacuation procedures by following post orders, guiding occupants as directed, and coordinating with local responders and/or site management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
