We are seeking a Research Data Analystwho will provide data analysis and related activities for various types of research projects and studies. The Research Data Analyst will contribute to ongoing development, maintenance, and use of a research data pipeline that collects and analyzes data.

The Infectious Disease Dynamics group in the Department of Epidemiology is seeking to hire a Research Data Analyst as part of a CDC-funded grant (via the Center for Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics/Insight Net) on using novel data sources to inform infectious disease model development and outbreak analytics. The candidate will be responsible for study coordination, database development and management, and analysis and interpretation of primary data generated from large-scale online surveys and serological (antibody) testing. This position is based in Baltimore, MD.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect data and generate reports and models.
  • Run models, analyze model results, and prepare reports on the analysis.
  • Conduct analyses in support of the assigned research project or study.
  • Conduct statistical analyses using standard and statistical software packages.
  • Design and prepare tables to illustrate analytic findings.
  • Manage or contribute to entry of data in the assigned database.
  • May engage in other research related responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above

  • Develop and manage essential database processes for survey and serological data collected in this project.
  • Contribute to instrument design and coordinate collection of online survey data.
  • Coordinate the distribution of at-home blood collection kits for serological testing and liaise with laboratory personnel on sample processing.
  • Design and conduct statistical analyses of survey and serological data.
  • Prepare analyses for presentations, reports, and scientific manuscripts.
  • Develop dashboards for data visualization.
  • Document and monitor Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications in accordance with data safety and security protocols.
  • Assist with general office administrative tasks.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Three years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience using REDCap for database management.
  • Experience in the analysis of survey and/or serological data.
  • Experience in programming using R.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of data management and analysis.
  • Interest in infectious disease epidemiology and public health research.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Starting Salary Range: $48,000 - $84,100 Annually (Commensurate w/exp.)
